Bethesda, Md. is northwest of Washington, D.C. in southern Montgomery County. It is among the most educated cities in the country and highest earning.
The town is known for its array of restaurants, some 180 of them, with cuisine ranging from Afghan to Vietnamese.
Bethesda is a major urban core and employment center in southern Montgomery County. A bustling downtown is located at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Old Georgetown Road. A number of boutique clothing stores, coffee shops and larger chains such as Apple and Barnes and Noble can be found in downtown Bethesda.
The Metro station is located in downtown Bethesda and connects the area to Washington, D.C. and beyond.
Residences located within walking distance of downtown carry a premium price but allow for a car free lifestyle. Three luxury condominium projects are underway in Bethesda, and others are planned.

Branching out from downtown Bethesda, there are very popular established communities with a blend of older homes and new homes being built. The new homes are mixed into the established neighborhoods creating an eclectic look.
Each year the president of the United States receives his annual medical check-up at the National Naval Medical Center, commonly known as Bethesda Naval Hospital. Additionally, the National Institutes of Health campus is in Bethesda while defense conglomerate Lockheed Martin, a number of banks and hotel & resort chain Marriott International are headquartered there.
Tiger Woods hosts his annual AT&T National golf tournament at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.
Bethesda is one the most livable cities in the United States, Forbes magazine reported in its April 2009 issue. The annual index of “America’s Most Livable Cities” examines income growth over a five-year period, crime statistics, a leisure index and unemployment numbers.
